NC Police Officer Anthony Sindermann Named “Officer of the Year”

The North Chicago Police Department recently awarded Detective Anthony Sindermann with the department’s prestigious 2025 Officer of the Year award. He was formally recognized at the March 2, 2026 City Council meeting.

Detective Sindermann received several nominations from his peers, and here are a few of the accolades noted in those nominations:

“He consistently demonstrates what it means to be a leader. He has earned respect through his actions, his work ethic, and the way he treats the people around him. He sets the standard for professionalism and expects the best from himself before expecting it from anyone else.”

“Detective Sindermann is also one of the most consistent mentors within our department”

“Detective Sindermann is a great asset to the North Chicago Police Department and to the city we serve. He consistently goes beyond his job description, not for recognition, but because he genuinely cares about the people around him and the future of this department.”

“I have witnessed him provide the same guidance to many other new officers. He takes time to explain the job, share lessons learned, and be honest about mistakes he made earlier in his career so others can avoid them. This honesty builds trust and helps younger officers grow faster and with more confidence.”

There were three other candidates who received nominations: Officer Grayer, Officer Ruiz and Sergeant Hartmann.

Congratulations to all the officers who were nominated. The entire City of North Chicago Police Department makes the community proud. Thank you for your efforts to keep everyone safe.
