Community Volunteers Invited to Celebrate Arbor Day Through Tree Planting
The City of North Chicago is partnering with Lake County and the Delta Institute to host a community tree planting event in recognition of Arbor Day on October 29, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at North Chicago City Hall.
Community members are invited to roll up their sleeves and help plant new trees that will contribute to a greener, healthier, and more beautiful community. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn about tree-planting best practices from professionals at Johnson’s Nursery.
While National Arbor Day is traditionally observed on the last Friday in April, North Chicago and its partners are recognizing the occasion this fall through a hands-on initiative focused on environmental stewardship, community beautification, and ecological enhancement.
Spearheaded by the Delta Institute, this initiative also supports a broader effort to develop a regional Tree Planting Consortium. The consortium aims to advance tree canopy restoration, encourage community engagement, and build partner capacity across Lake County, Illinois, and Kenosha and Racine counties in Wisconsin.
Residents are encouraged to participate in this opportunity to make a lasting, positive impact on the local environment while connecting with others who share a commitment to a greener future.
