Council Approves Important Tool to Support Public Safety

The City of North Chicago is continually looking for ways to strengthen public safety and provide police personnel with the tools they need to serve the community effectively. As part of that effort, at the September 21 City Council meeting, the Council approved an investment in CLEAR ProFlex, an investigative information platform from Thomson Reuters. The cost for this technology is not to exceed $49,000 over five years.

CLEAR ProFlex provides authorized personnel with a centralized resource for researching information from multiple sources. The platform can help investigators locate individuals, verify addresses and telephone information, research businesses and vehicles, and identify connections between people, organizations and other records.

For our public-safety personnel, having this information readily available can help streamline investigative research, develop leads and connect information that may otherwise require searches across multiple sources. This technology is intended to complement the experience, training and professional judgment of our personnel.

The City takes the responsible use of investigative information seriously. Access to CLEAR ProFlex is limited to authorized users, and its use is subject to applicable laws, regulations and cty policies.
