North Chicago Fire Department Launches 2026 Smoke Alarm Education Campaign OCTOBER 18-24-FREE SMOKE ALARM INSTALLATION OFFERED
In recognition of 2026 National Fire Prevention Month, October, the North Chicago Fire Department is proud to join Camp I Am Me, the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance, and the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal for the third annual Be Alarmed! National Fire Prevention Month (October).
During the week of October 18-24, The North Chicago Fire Department will be working directly with residents to:
- Provide FREE smoke alarm installation
- Ensure smoke alarms are properly placed
- Help residents understand the importance of working smoke alarms
- Increase home fire safety and preparedness
- Help protect families and loved ones
- Build a stronger, safer North Chicago
North Chicago residents are encouraged to call 846-596-8782 to schedule a FREE smoke alarm installation appointment from October 18-24.
This statewide initiative brings together hundreds of fire departments and fire safety organizations across Illinois with one important mission: educate residents about the dangers of home fires and help ensure homes have properly installed, working smoke alarms.
